WTA engineered the original "McAuto" facility for McDonnell Douglas. The data center and operations center complex includes eight buildings which house a computer center, five office buildings, an energy center and a support services building. Of the total 1,100,000 sq.ft., 150,000 sq.ft, is occupied by computers. The campus security system includes security booths, card readers and a CCTV surveillance system. Many innovative design solutions are incorporated into the facility including:

  • Four 940 kW emergency generators and over 10,000 batteries provide backup power for computer equipment during normal power outage
  • Master planning was developed for all utilities including electric, gas, water, sewer
  • Heat reclaim chiller reclaims rejected heat from computer equipment to satisfy heating requirements of remaining campus buildings
  • Energy center and utility galleries provide centralized control and maintenance while minimizing piping and increasing flexibility in the computer space

For seven years, WTA continued to be the exclusive on-site plant engineers for the facility performing major renovation projects and equipment relocations.
