WTA designed the new 96,000 sq.ft. Pattonville School District elementary school to house students in kindergarten through 5th grade. In addition to basic classrooms this facility has two dedicated art rooms, two computer laboratories, two music rooms, large gym, small gym, multipurpose room, and library. The building utilizes a corridor arrangement around two large courtyards for outdoor activities. The project included:

  • Latest communications and data network technology including a wireless building-to-building telecommunication link to the District's administration building located one mile away
  • Heat recovery unit is used to optimize energy savings and satisfy the code required outside air requirements
  • Four pipe fan coil units condition classrooms. The units are placed in small mechancial spaces between classrooms allowing maintenance to service units without disrupting classes and also minimizes the possibility of noise generation from the fan coils being transmitted into classrooms.
  • Indirect lighting system utilized in classrooms, library, and multipurpose room
  • Security system including digitally recorded surveillance, card reader access, intercom systems with door control capability, and audio sensors in each exterior room with windows was installed to provide central station 24/7 monitoring and remote audio monitoring
