WTA provided engineering design services to Washington University for the renovation and expansion of the Biology/Classroom/Library facility. A new three-story, 8,000 sq.ft. addition houses laboratories, plant growth chambers and greenhouse support services. A 4,000 sq.ft. greenhouse was constructed on the south face of the expansion. This facility represents state-of-the-art in climate control for biological and plant research. The project included:

  • Direct-digital control and display panel monitors, divided into five individually-controlled units, control all greenhouse environmental systems
  • Phasing of utility construction to keep contiguous portions of the building in service
  • Environmental growth chambers and head house facilities for plant growth research
  • Steam and chilled water services are provided via the campus primary loop
