WTA programmed and designed the mechanical and electrical systems for the new 80,000 sq.ft. Ambulatory Care Center addition to the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. The project included:
- Investigation of existing hospital systems and their suitability for expansion, replacement, or parallel development for the addition
- Investigation of impact of existing civil utilities on alternative development plans
- Coordination of electric, gas and steam utilities both during temporary rerouting during construction and for final connections
- Design of central air handling systems
- Integration with and reinforcement of existing campus utilities, including temporary relocation of 500 feet of 12 inch high-pressure steam line
- Design of new emergency room
- Design of eight individual outpatient clinics
- Construction administration period services
Based on performance, WTA subsequently provided additional services to Harry S. Truman including the design of a new chilled water plant, design of ambulatory surgery and design of a relocated pharmacy, and miscellaneous renovations to approximately 30% of the first and second floors.
