The 120,000 sq.ft. Science and Technology Center includes instructional and research laboratories, classrooms and faculty offices for the chemistry, physics, and engineering departments. Services are distributed to allow future conversion of spaces to new use. Energy features include variable volume air supply, fume exhaust, and hydronic systems controlled by direct digital programming. Project features include:
- Seven air handling systems serving different areas of the facility. Steam arrangement is based on combining like areas for energy efficiency and scheduling.
- Systems are energy efficient VAV/reheat with "clean" steam humidification
- VAV wet lab hoods are controlled for energy efficient, safe operation
- Extensive infrastructure for computers including provisions for fiber-optic networks
- Laboratories are illuminated with combination direct and indirect luminaires
- Special filtration provided for spaces generating dust
