WTA provided mechanical and electrical engineering for the new Douglas County Justice Center in Castle Rock, Colorado. The three floor, 270,000 sq.ft. facility houses a jail, courtrooms, law enforcement department, judges' chambers, jury assembly room, and office areas for various justice related activities. Project issues included:
- Mechanical and electrical installation details for prison security
- Standby heating systems for reliability of service in detention areas
- Standby generator for life safety and sustained housing operation during power outage
- Energy conservation features such as air-to-air heat reclaim in the four housing units, direct fired makeup air hoods, and direct introduction of makeup air to laundry dryers
- A fully automated central control and monitoring system
