WTA provided MEPF engineering design for the new 15,000 sq.ft. genomic research laboratory and animal holding facility. Also incorporated were designs for a future 15,000 sq.ft. molecular laboratory and additional animal holding facilities. All systems were designed according to the ILAR design standards. Project features include:

  • Redundant 100% O.A. air handling systems
  • Maintaining of pressure differentials for animal holding quarantine and lab spaces
  • Medium pressure steam system for building heat as well as humidification and cage washes and autoclaves
  • Mechanical mezzanine which provides access for routine maintenance while avoiding intrusion into animal holding areas
  • Emergency generator system for critical animal care areas
  • Specialized fire alarm with silent tone annunciators
  • HEPA filter system to minimize airborne pathogens
