WTA provided MEPF engineering design for the new 15,000 sq.ft. genomic research laboratory and animal holding facility. Also incorporated were designs for a future 15,000 sq.ft. molecular laboratory and additional animal holding facilities. All systems were designed according to the ILAR design standards. Project features include:
- Redundant 100% O.A. air handling systems
- Maintaining of pressure differentials for animal holding quarantine and lab spaces
- Medium pressure steam system for building heat as well as humidification and cage washes and autoclaves
- Mechanical mezzanine which provides access for routine maintenance while avoiding intrusion into animal holding areas
- Emergency generator system for critical animal care areas
- Specialized fire alarm with silent tone annunciators
- HEPA filter system to minimize airborne pathogens
