The Southwestern Bell Data Center contains over 640,000 sq.ft. including two basement levels, seven computer floors, one office floor, one auditorium/conference floor, and two mechanical/electrical penthouse floors. The computer area in this building is over 350,000 sq.ft. More than 1,500 items of data processing equipment are serviced from the highly-sophisticated and expandable mechanical/electrical system designed by WTA. The project included:

  • A cogeneration system consisting of three 2,000 kW, 13.8 kV, generator units. Heat recovery equipment provides heat for the Data Center and adjacent Southwestern Bell buildings and also acts as a stand-by power source.
  • Mechanical equipment contained in utility galleries on both sides of each operations floor. The galleries are designed to keep maintenance activities out of secure areas.
  • A central system consisting of eight 45,000 cfm air handlers provides heating, air conditioning and smoke evacuation for all above-grade floors.
  • Chilled water storage of 350,000 gallons provides for HVAC system economical operation and standby capacity
