Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School

STEM Building (LEED Platinum)

Mary Institute and Country Day School (MICDS) is a private JK-12 school located in St. Louis, Missouri.  The school challenged itself to create a new active and inspiring curriculum for the mathematics and science programs.  The result is the new 80,000 sq.ft. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) facility.  The building completely modernizes the teaching facilities associated with the target programs.  Besides hosting unique laboratories for biology, chemistry, physics and robotics, the facility includes a research greenhouse and an 800-seat auditorium.  The building is LEED Platinum certified.

WTA provided MEPF engineering, information technology, and architectural lighting design.  Our design incorporated on-site renewable energy measures including a 112kW photovoltaic array providing over 15% of the building’s total energy needs and a 70,000 Btuh solar thermal array providing 100% of the building’s domestic hot water throughout the year.
