WTA provided complete MEPF and telecommunication engineering for a 500-seat auditorium and 12,500 sq.ft. commons gallery at Rockwood High School. Project specifics include:

  • Design of energy efficient lighting systems, with dimming and instant on features to meet the occupant's visual needs. All fixtures are accessible without the use of scaffolding, saving the district $20,000 in annual maintenance costs.
  • Coordination with out-of-town acoustic consultant to provide theater quality sound performance with the mechanical system. Air-handling equipment was designed with acoustic treatment that included airfoil fans, double wall sound panels and sound attenuating curbs. Acoustic treatment was also designed into the ductwork, air devices and air device connections.
  • Design of event mode into the control systems that increases the outdoor ventilation to that required for a large 500-person event. When the system is not in the event mode it will reduce the outdoor air ventilation to that required for small events such as teaching, testing or small lectures.
